If you are a football fan, it is inevitable that during a football debate you have been asked who is better, Messi or Ronaldo? Salah or Hazard? Lampard or Gerrard? Or one painful question that seems to pop up online regularly during international breaks… Drogba or Vardy? These are typical discussion points when talking about football, whether you are sat in the pub with friends, at a family BBQ, in the school playground or after work with colleagues. But a conversation about football often inescapably shifts towards a debate about who is better between players. In recent years, rather than comparing a player’s technical ability, work rate, dribbling, ability on the ball or natural talent, discussions tend to centre around a player’s goal and assist tally.
